AEA Investors acquires the majority interest in Splash Car Wash
AEA Investors, a private investment firm based in New York, announced on Thursday that it has acquired a majority interest in Splash Car Wash.
Founded in 1981 by Chris Fisher and Mark Curtis, Splash Car Wash began with a single location in Greenwich, Connecticut. Since then, Splash has grown into a leading car wash platform in the Northeast, with more than 65 locations across Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, and Vermont.
The AEA Small Business Private Equity team purchased the majority interest in Splash from Palladin Consumer Retail Partners LLC, which originally acquired the car wash brand in 2018.

A New Jersey car wash employee was struck and killed earlier this week by a vehicle by a vehicle entering the facility in New Brunswick, N.J., according to a report by NJ.com. The 81-year-old driver was entering the tunnel portion of Trax Car Wash when she accelerated and hit the worker, police said. Enrique Barahona, 54, of New Brunswick, died of his injuries while two other workers at the car wash were also injured.
Charlotte, N.C.-based Links Car Wash has opened its newest location in York, South Carolina - its first site in the Palmetto State. To celebrate the grand opening, the site will host a “Free Wash Weekend,” with customers able to receive a free “Ultimate Wash” today, Saturday or Sunday (April 25-27). Site amenities include complimentary vacuums, mat cleaners, towels, and window cleaners.
The Temecula (California) Planning Commission recently reviewed plans to develop a 1.88-acre site on the southern end of Bedford Court. The site, developed by Murrieta-based Catalyst Commercial Group, is expected to include a 3,596-squar-foot Quick Quack Car Wash location as well as a Dutch Bros. Coffee site. The planned development is approximately 75 feet from a residential community that is currently bordered by the major routes of I-15, La Paz Road, and Temecula Parkway.
Tommy’s Express Car Wash is celebrating the grand opening of its first location in Hickory, North Carolina. The site, at 2208 N. Center St., will offer free car washes through May 4. The Hickory location offers several premium amenities including floor mat washers and high-powered vacuums. With nearly 250 locations across North America, Holland, Michigan-based Tommy’s Express is ranked No. 1 in the car wash category on the Entrepreneur Franchise 500 list.
Tommy’s Express Car Wash is also celebrating the grand opening of its first location in Madison, Alabama, this weekend. A portion of all the proceeds made on Saturday and Sunday (April 26-27), will be donated to the Madison Animal Rescue Foundation and the Greater Huntsville Humane Society. All guests who purchase a “Works” wash will also receive a free Tommy’s Express chew toy.

April “Wash-A-Thon” at Canadian car wash benefits local hospital foundation: Suds Zone Car Wash in Estevan, a city in Saskatchewan, Canada, is once again holding a “Wash-A-Thon” to help a local hospital raise money to improve diagnostic services for the rural community. A percentage from all car washes during the month of April will be donated to St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation and its campaign to bring an MRI machine to the community. The foundation has reached about 80 percent of its $6.5 million goal. This is the second year of the campaign, which was moved to April to take advantage of higher customer traffic.
