• Car wash owner’s unusual dying wish comes true: An unusual dying wish from a car wash owner of took place last Friday with a cash money drop around the area of his business, Show Room Shine Express in east Detroit, Michigan. According to multiple reports, Darrell Thomas, who passed away on June 15 at 58 years old from the effects of Alzheimer’s Disease, wanted to shower his community with money as a final thank you. The man’s sons organized a drop of $5,000 cash along with rose petals from a helicopter last Friday afternoon. The money drop briefly brought traffic to a halt as people stopped to pick up the cash. • Planning Inspectorate backs car wash rejection in South Yorkshire: Wayne Hadfield had twice been rejected permission to turn land at Three T’s Business Park into a car wash in Blacker Hill, a small village in South Yorkshire, England. The businessman then elected to appeal the decision to the Planning Inspectorate, which has the power to overrule the Barnsley Council. The Inspectorate, however, recently ruled in the council’s favor and dismissed Hadfield’s appeal. According to a report in the Barnsley Chronicle, the Inspectorate noted no noise survey had been provided and, “The car wash is likely to utilize noise-generating equipment such as generators, jet washes and vacuums.”
