• Ebb and flow of car wash mergers and acquisitions: Car Wash Advisory recently released its 2024 Mergers & Acquisitions Report which highlights the growth and retraction in the industry over the past five years. M&A deals hit an all-time high in 2022 followed by a sharp decline back to average levels in 2023 and 2024. Despite a significant reduction in number of transactions the past two years, the total number of sites involved showed much less volatility. • Crew Carwash recently celebrated the grand opening of its newest location in Whitestown, Indiana, which is the company’s 50^th location in the Midwest and fourth featuring Crew’s interior clean service. Family owned since 1948, Crew Carwash is one of the largest car wash companies in the United States with more than 1,000 full-time and part-time employees.

• Scotty’s Car Wash, a state-of-the-art, fully touchless, self-service car wash, is now open in Henderson, Nevada. The vibrant LED-lit facility features AI robotics and advanced touch-free systems to clean tires, wheels, and rocker panels without touching the vehicle. Scotty’s will host a grand opening party on Jan. 18.

• Clean Express Car Wash has received a conditional use permit from the Richmond Heights (Ohio) Planning Commission to open a new automatic car wash in the Belle Oaks Marketplace development. The company plans to open more than five new car washes in 2025, with over 100 locations currently operating.

• German car wash provides immersive tourism journey: Strict regulations in Germany prohibit washing cars at home to protect rivers from runoff, which sends many residents to car washes to keep their vehicles clean. Destination BC – a provincially-funded Crown corporation that promotes tourism in British Columbia – has launched “The Great Wilderness Car Wash” in Hamburg. Working with production company Unit9, the activation transformed a car wash into an immersive journey through the Northern BC wilderness, combining precision engineering with advanced sensory technology, including 3D projections and high-definition visuals.
