Equipment choice is generally a top concern, with many c-stores electing in-bay automatic car washes over tunnel systems due to less labor and maintenance required. Read more here.

  • How to avoid fines with France’s strict car wash regulations: Washing a car outside of designated facilities can lead to fines in France - even when drought restrictions are not in place. The regulations against unauthorized car washing are designed to prevent pollution caused by wastewater runoff, backed by a standard fine of €450. However, if the activity results in proven environmental harm, the penalties may rise to €75,000 and up to two years in prison, as set out in Article L216-6 of the Environmental Code. Among the areas car washing in prohibited are public highways, private roads open to public traffic, pavements and walkways, riverbanks, harbors and quays; and public parks and gardens.
