Help kids get a 'kick' this spring at ScrubaDub Auto Wash Centers
ScrubaDub Auto Wash Centers is partnering with Cradles to Crayons in its annual “Clean for Kicks” campaign to provide footwear to local children in need.
The Massachusetts-based car wash company has supported Cradle to Crayons’ “Spring Greening” initiative for eight years. The campaign promotes keeping gently used children’s clothing essentials out of landfills by providing them to children experiencing clothing insecurity.
Through April 28, customers can visit any of ScrubaDub’s 20-plus locations to donate a new or gently used pair of kid’s shoes to Cradles to Crayons; or $5 and receive a complimentary UltraShine Wax with a car wash.

Unlikely car wash in English village home of cocaine smuggling empire: From The Daily Mail, a British daily tabloid newspaper based in London, comes the story of how a popular car wash in Spellbrook of Hertfordshire – Spellbrook Hand Car Wash – ended up being the front for a major drug smuggling ring. According to the Daily’s report, the site served as a hub of a smuggling operation that imported packages cocaine in small planes flying over from northern France. Police recently raided the car wash to find part of a £4.2million cocaine haul. Four men have now been jailed for a total of more than 47 years following an investigation by the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU). Read more here.

To celebrate the site’s new ownership, the Tommy’s Express Car Wash locationat 2842 S. Nellis Blvd. in Las Vegas, Nevada, will offer free car washes through April 19. Tommy’s sites are known for their innovative wash tunnels that feature floor-to-ceiling windows and a transparent roof. With nearly 250 locations across North America, Tommy’s Express is ranked No. 1 in the car wash category on the Entrepreneur Franchise 500 list.
Crew Carwash plans to begin construction on a new location in Champaign, Illinois, later this spring with an expected opening by the end of the year. The car wash will be located at 2029 N. Prospect Ave., where a former Fazoli’s restaurant is currently being demolished. Founded in 1948 by Joe Dahm, the Indiana-based Crew Carwash has around 50 locations across Indiana and Minnesota.
The Town of Newburgh (New York) has scheduled a public hearing for May 15 on a proposed project to bring a Spark Car Wash on Route 300. Since its last appearance before the board, the engineering team from Stonefield Engineering held a workshop with town consultants to discuss traffic concerns and other issues. Compliance with updated DEC wetland regulations, the town’s front-yard landscaping design guidelines, and securing bonds for stormwater and landscaping improvements are required.

City of Ekurhuleni promotes water conservation at car washes: A member of the Mayoral Committee for Water and Sanitation for the City of Ekurhuleni, one of eight metropolitan municipalities in South Africa, is leading a campaign to get car wash businesses to contribute to a sustainable water use by adopting water-efficient practices. Every car wash is required to apply for a water meter connection through the city. City officials are visiting car washes across Ekurhuleni to ensure proper connections, payment of municipal bills, and alignment with the city’s water policy. Car washes are being asked to adopt waterless car wash solutions that clean vehicles without using large amounts of water.
