Cold temperatures may seem a contra-indicator to heading to a car wash, but winter and spring tend to be the two busiest seasons for car washes.

While freezing temperatures on the surface don’t tend to mix well with water, the debris buildup from winter weather is reason enough to explore the need to find a car washing option.

Especially in areas of the country that face harsh winter weather conditions – and we’ve already seen a fair share of that already including in areas not generally accustomed to it – road salt, grime and other debris can potentially damage a car’s paint and undercarriage if left untreated.

In many cases, waiting for a good “spring cleaning” may not be the best option.

  • An amendment to an existing planned development district to allow a tunnel express car wash with vacuum stations at 2668 and 2678 U.S. 17 South in Brunswick, Georgia, was recently by the Glynn County Mainland Planning Commission. A site plan for the planned car wash was also unanimously approved.

  • The Classy Chassis Car Wash location in Lakewood, Washington, recently reopened for business following an extensive remodeling of the car wash and detailing center. Customers are reminded that some construction continues around the building and lobby entrance. The main Lakewood location features an automatic tunnel wash, hand washing, an Xpress Lube, coffee shop and retail store.

  • Marcus & Millichap, a leading commercial real estate firm specializing in investment sales, financing, research and advisory services, recently completed the sale of a new El Car Wash in Miami, Florida, for more than $6.7 million. The property includes a newly constructed, state-of-the-art express car wash facility with a 120-foot tunnel.

  • Mr. Wash begins “15/30” employee campaign: The German car wash company, Mr. Wash Autoservice AG, began the new year with an enhanced commitment to its employees. As part of its “15/30” campaign, the hourly wage for all employees increased by one euro with the starting wage now set at 15 euros.
