• Splash Car Wash acquires USA Car Wash, nears 70 locations: Splash Car Wash, based in Milford, Connecticut, announced it acquired USA Car Wash in Hempstead, New York. This acquisition marks Splash’s 69th location and its 43rd in New York, continuing the company’s Long Island carwash expansion strategy. Splash will convert the new location to a Splash Express over the next few months. The team will install all new equipment and add self-service vacuums. Read more here.

• HighBar Property Group and Nexthome Modern Realty recently brokered the sale of two New Hampshire car washes, at 572 U.S. 4 in Enfield, and 1049 North Main St. in White River Junction. Sam Obar of HighBar, and Spenser Molloy of Nexthome, represented the seller in the transaction. Both properties sold to one buyer in an ‘as is’ sale of both the business and the real estate including furniture, fixtures, and equipment. The sale price was undisclosed. The Enfield location was constructed in 2021 and the White River Junction site in 1980.

• Valvoline has signed a long-term lease in Maple Shade, New Jersey, as part of a site that will also house a new-look car wash business, brokers with Vantage Commercial reported. The site at 586 Route 38 will reactivate what was the former home of a prior car wash. Valvoline will use the location for an instant oil change center, while the property’s new owner will operate the modernized tunnel-style car wash as an independent business. The latter will also feature a subscription-based service model.

• Jarrow car wash plans rejected over noise and safety concerns: Plans to convert a private car park in Jarrow, a town in South Tyneside, England, into a car wash and valet service have been scuttled over noise and safety concerns. The South Tyneside Council’s planning department recently rejected an application for the land next to Jarrow Civic Hall, according to a report from Chronicle Live. During a council consultation process on the plans, there was public opposition with 13 letters of objection. The complaints encompassed “limited parking” in the vicinity, congestion and traffic problems, heightened noise and disruption, the removal of the current car park, a reduction in property prices, and the presence of comparable car wash operations in the locality.
