Sioux Falls, South Dakata-based Silverstar Car Wash is utilizing a diverse collection of NIL partnerships with college athletes to help connect to potential new customers.
Founded in 2010, Silverstar has 11 locations in Sioux Falls, S.D.; six in Sioux City, Iowa; five in Fargo, N.D.; five locations open in the Twin Cities and more under development in the Quad Cities and Des Moines.
Because of its vastly expanding Midwest footprint, Silverstar has targeted college athletes from a variety of colleges and markets for NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) partnerships.
The NCAA’s NIL rules allow companies like Silverstar to incorporate college athletes into their marketing campaigns.

2025 edition of SCWA Convention & EXPO a ‘fabulous’ event: Organizers of the 2025 edition of the Southwest Car Wash Association Convention & EXPO included a record EXPO area and diverse group of attendees. The SCWA said those in attendance at the event last week in Fort Worth, Texas, came from 46 different states and several foreign countries, including Mexico, Canada, Finland, the Netherlands, the Virgin Islands and Germany. “I am always amazed to see the excitement and enthusiasm of all the attendees and exhibitors,” SWCA President Jeff Blansit said in a statement. Tidal Wave Auto Spa will celebrate the grand opening of its newest location in Early, Texas, with free premium car washes on Wednesday. Any new customer that purchases a Tidal Wave Clean Club unlimited wash membership during the week will receive the first month of unlimited washes for only $9.97. Tidal Wave has 289 express wash locations across the country, with 19 Texas locations.
Links Car Wash has continued its expansion in Florida with the acquisition of a new development property at 4089 S Goldenrod Rd. in Orlando. This marks the Charlotte, N.C.-based company’s third Orlando location. The new site is set to break ground in early 2025. “Bringing a third location to Orlando is an exciting milestone for us,” said Ryan Hanks, founder and CEO of Links. “We look forward to welcoming customers at this new location and continuing to grow our presence in Florida.”
A new Super Star Car Wash location is expected to open in September in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, area on North Tarrant Parkway. The site will offer self-service and full-service detailing and provide complimentary vacuums, mat cleaners, microfiber towels, air blasters and tire inflation hoses. Super Star, which operates in Arizona, California, Colorado and Texas, has more than 20 locations in the DFW area.
Pony Express Car Wash recently opened its newest facility in Rexburg, Idaho. The operators have developed a unique water conservation program that washes vehicles with plenty of water while minimizing the use of fresh water. It’s the sixth Pony Express to open in eastern Idaho. The first Pony Express opened in 2019 in Chubbuck. Since then, they have expanded to Idaho Falls, Ammon, Pocatello, Blackfoot and now Rexburg.

Plans for proposed car wash rejected in Coulby Newham in UK: A proposed car wash in the Parkway Shopping Centre in Coulby Newham, a town in North Yorkshire, England, was recently rejected by the Middlesbrough Council planning officers. The authority cited an increase in vehicles obstructing the free flow of traffic as the reason for turning down the proposal. Plans were originally submitted in November and December of last year and included a car wash, an office area for staff and storage facility. The applicant can appeal against the decision to the Secretary of State but must do so within 12 weeks of the date of the refusal notice (Feb. 21). Read more here.
