• What’s new in car wash technology? Actually, a lot: DRB, an Akron, Ohio-based provider of point-of-sale and optimization technology to the car wash, quick lube and light repair industries, recently put together an interesting article summarizing many of the newest technological advancements in the car wash industry. Among the topics it covers are the need for innovative wash management platforms, incorporation of artificial intelligence, mobile apps and customer engagement solutions. The article advocates the embracing of these technologies which can transform current car wash operations. Read more here.

   Express Hits  🎯 

• On Saturday starting at Noon EST, the first 200 members at each location of El Car Wash in Florida and Michigan will receive a free Crumbl dessert included with their wash. In addition to the dessert, these customers will also receive an exclusive Crumbl/El Car Wash co-branded air freshener. This promotion is for one day only. El Car Wash has 80 locations across Florida and Michigan with another 10 slated to open by the end of the year.

• Auto Butler Car Wash, located at 1706 Homer Adams Pkwy. in Alton, Illinois, was forced to close on Wednesday following a water main break in front of the business. The water leak, which occurred on the road where customers enter the business, has caused the water supply to be shut off while crews dig up the road to make repairs. Officials hoped water would be restored within 24 hours.

• A recent immigration raid at Jack’s Car Wash and Detailing in Bell, California, resulted in at least three people being detained. Protesters gathered to confront the Immigration and Custom Enforcement agents in the area, which is about six miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles. In one video shared with The Los Angeles Times, a protester sprays white paint on a silver SUV while others repeatedly hit the vehicle while chanting vulgarities.

• A bizarre incident in Upland, California saw a woman allegedly high on drugs drive the wrong way through a car wash, causing thousands of dollars in damage to the machinery. The woman then started walking away from the scene but was stopped and evaluated. She was ultimately booked for DUI, hit and run, and her vehicle towed.

• Swiss company Riwax expands in Benelux with Altac as distributor: Riwax-Chemie AG, a Swiss-based company, will transfer the distribution of its car wash cleaning and maintenance products in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg to Altac Coating Group. The change will take effect on July 1 and will be managed under a new company structure called Riwax Benelux B.V. While the Dutch car wash market is quite developed, Riwax believes there is a strong demand for high-end products and believes with Altac’s customer network, it can reach more car wash operations.
