👉California city latest municipality to enact a ban on new car washes

Earlier this month, the Brentwood (California) City Council approved legislation halting the construction of new car washes and short-term rental properties. Data from the International Carwash Association’s (ICA) Pulse Report reveals a noticeable decline in growth expectations for the car wash industry, signaling potential challenges ahead. The percentage of car wash owners expressing optimism about current industry conditions fell to 43% in Q3 2024, down nearly 20 points from Q2. Looking six months ahead, 46% of retailers remain positive, but this also represents a sharp decline. Read more here.

👉NFL great Barry Sanders gains ownership role in El Car Wash

NFL Hall of Famer Barry Sanders has taken an ownership stake in El Car Wash in line with the Florida-based express car wash company’s expansion into Michigan. Sanders, one of the best running backs in NFL history and played 11 seasons for the Detroit Lions, is expected to play a key role in El Car Wash’s expansion plans. Read more here.
